
Dr. Tarun Katapally, the founder of the Digital Epidemiology Population Health (DEPtH) Laboratory, at Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy is the latest recipient of the International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) “One to Watch” award. The news was officially announced on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, on the University of Regina’s official Twitter page.
Dr. Katapally also took to Twitter acknowledge the award and thank his team for their support. Here is what he said:
“Grateful to @ISBNPA for this honour. I share this recognition with our bright and motivated @DEPtHLab trainees, our research collaborators and most importantly, our community stakeholders.”
Represented in 44 countries, the ISBNPA has over 1000 members from a plethora of government agencies, academic and medical institutions, as well as industry and professional organizations. The ISBNPA continues to lead as a key voice in physical activity science and behavioural nutrition.
News of Katapally’s latest accomplishment arrives weeks after a collaborative project between him and Ken Coates, Canada Research Chair in Regional Innovation, Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Saskatchewan, was announced. Both researchers and their respective teams will be working towards introducing Indigenous & northern communities to innovative technology that can help them better understand the spread of COVID-19 and present them with economic opportunities.
